A bit long… but balanced, hopefully interesting, and NOT a rant…

There’s been much buzz in the media and on the net regarding draping and backdrops used for President Obama’s speech at Georgetown University on April 14, 2009. Thanks to a Washington Times misquote of a CNS News article, A White House request to cover all signage and symbols behind the stage to accommodate the backdrop of flags, pipe and drape used for policy speeches quickly morphed into an outcry that Obama himself had insisted that the "IHS" symbol for Jesus be covered.

In early 2003, during the lead-up to the invasion of Iraq, there was similar buzz over a mural at the United Nations that was also draped. The spin was that the mural had been censored by the White House, Bush Administration, Colin Powell, UN officials (pick one or all the above). Most likely a large, blue curtain merely photographed easier and was was thus a more appropriate backdrop for the cameras. The mural was a reproduction of a famous portrait by Pablo Picasso, depicting horrified faces and titled "Guernica" (link to .jpg image file below), named after a Basque town of the same name.

on April 26th, 1937 (market day), Guernica was carpet bombed by Facist Italian and Nazi German forces. Three-quarters of the town was destroyed and 1,600 civilians were killed.

All the evidence of the last year suggests that this type of bipartisanship — a Republican surrender — is the only kind in which he is interested. Since Obama knows full well that no such deal is possible, the real purpose of his health-care summit is political. He must think that the Democratic proposal will look better in comparison to Republican ideas. He wants to make Democratic efforts to push through their bills seem like a reasonable response to the unreasonableness of Republicans.

They always find some way to spin the news in favor of Clinton.
Obama has won the last five Democratic party primarys and leads Clinton in delegates from the voters.

Right now there is no mention of Obama’s sweep in th e primaries this weekend and no mention that Hillary’s status as front runner is over.

Instead they are running an article entitled:

"Clinton leading Obama among super delegates."

Is there a way to but a negative spin on that, or is that a positive outcome of Obama being elected?

A closer race means higher ratings an more money. Is there any reason CNN wouldn’t help out McCain for more money in their pockets?

In an interview with the Reno Gazette-Journal Obama used Ronald Reagan as an example for his own Presidency stating that Ronald Reagan had changed the trajectory of America something Obama wishes to do only in an opposite direction of Reagan.

In a recent article in the Washington Post Dan Balz wrote that the Obama advisers were comparing the Obama Presidency to Reagan’s in a different way and looking for their version of Reagan’s "MORNING IN AMERICA".

In the article they correlate both Reagan and Obama having inherited bad economies and having to deal with high unemployment and low approval rating during the first two years of their Presidencies. They both took big Economic steps to improve the economy – Reagan Cut Taxes – Obama had the Stimulus bill.

Reagan suffered significant losses in the 1982 midterm elections and the Obama administration despite Biden’s rosy predictions for Democrats are bracing for what appears to be a repeat of 1994 midterms when Clinton lost both House and Senate after Republicans gained 54 seats in the House and 8 in the Senate.

NOW – the Obama advisers say they fully expect to be able to play the Morning in America ads like Reagan did in the 1984 leading to his super landslide victory.

Obama advisers are predicting a falling unemployment rate and rosy GDP numbers despite all evidence that the economy is set to go into a double dip recession.

MY QUESTION – ARE THE COMPARISONS OF OBAMA TO REAGAN A SIGN OF REAL POLITICAL DELUSION OR JUST SPIN AS THEY BRACE FOR THE HUGE LOSSES DEMOCRATS WILL SUFFER IN THE MIDTERM ELECTIONS???
