‘OUR HEADS ARE JUST SPINNING’: Girl recalls trip alone with offender

When 11-year-old Becky Fillmore turned on the news yesterday she saw the face and immediately got the chills.

On the television screen was the friendly man that had given her a ride home from a field trip at the Museum of Science in Boston in March.

The driver, she found out this week, is a sex offender.

The two were alone on that bus for at least 30 minutes.

‘‘I was really scared,’’ Becky said yesterday after she recognized the driver, Robert J. Burke, 39.

Becky never should have been alone with Burke.

Burke, in fact, never should have been driving school buses for his employer, P & M Transportation of Braintree.

Burke’s criminal record contains multiple convictions for open and gross lewd and lascivious behavior and indecent exposure.

He was arrested Tuesday for failing to register as a sex off
