Did anyone see Barack Obama’s 30 minute presentation on television Wednesday night? ?

I don’t have cable so I was not able to see it, but the Associated Press article had the following to say about it.

WASHINGTON – Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama was less than upfront in his half-hour commercial Wednesday night about the costs of his programs and the crushing budget pressures he would face in office.

Obama’s assertion that "I’ve offered spending cuts above and beyond" the expense of his promises is accepted only by his partisans. His vow to save money by "eliminating programs that don’t work" masks his failure throughout the campaign to specify what those programs are — beyond the withdrawal of troops from Iraq.

A sampling of what voters heard in the ad, and what he didn’t tell them:

THE SPIN: "That’s why my health care plan includes improving information technology, requires coverage for preventive care and pre-existing conditions and lowers health care costs for the typical family by ,500 a year."

THE FACTS: His plan does not lower premiums by ,500, or any set amount. Obama hopes that by spending billion over five years on electronic medical records and by improving access to proven disease management programs, among other steps, consumers will end up saving money. He uses an optimistic analysis to suggest cost reductions in national health care spending could amount to the equivalent of ,500 for a family of four. Many economists are skeptical those savings can be achieved, but even if they are, it’s not a certainty that every dollar would be passed on to consumers in the form of lower premiums.

___

THE SPIN: "I also believe every American has a right to affordable health care."

THE FACTS: That belief should not be confused with a guarantee of health coverage for all. He makes no such promise. Obama hinted as much in the ad when he said about the problem of the uninsured: "I want to start doing something about it." He would mandate coverage for children but not adults. His program is aimed at making insurance more affordable by offering the choice of government-subsidized coverage similar to that in a plan for federal employees and other steps, including requiring larger employers to share costs of insuring workers.

___

THE SPIN: "I’ve offered spending cuts above and beyond their cost."

THE FACTS: Independent analysts say both Obama and Republican John McCain would deepen the deficit. The nonpartisan Committee for a Responsible Federal Budget estimates Obama’s policy proposals would add a net 8 billion to the deficit over four years — and that analysis accepts the savings he claims from spending cuts. The nonpartisan Tax Policy Center, whose other findings have been quoted approvingly by the Obama campaign, says: "Both John McCain and Barack Obama have proposed tax plans that would substantially increase the national debt over the next 10 years." The analysis goes on to say: "Neither candidate’s plan would significantly increase economic growth unless offset by spending cuts or tax increases that the campaigns have not specified."

___

THE SPIN: "Here’s what I’ll do. Cut taxes for every working family making less than 0,000 a year. Give businesses a tax credit for every new employee that they hire right here in the U.S. over the next two years and eliminate tax breaks for companies that ship jobs overseas. Help homeowners who are making a good faith effort to pay their mortgages, by freezing foreclosures for 90 days. And just like after 9-11, we’ll provide low-cost loans to help small businesses pay their workers and keep their doors open. "

THE FACTS: His proposals — the tax cuts, the low-cost loans, the billion a year he promises for alternative energy, and more — cost money, and the country could be facing a record trillion deficit next year. Indeed, Obama recently acknowledged — although not in his commercial — that: "The next president will have to scale back his agenda and some of his proposals."

Laura – Obama’s speech became meaningless when he entered Wright’s church and stayed there for 20 years listening to "Black Liberation theology" which is a twisted perversion of the Christian gospel and is heavily racist to the point of wanting to see white people exterminated.

Obama was born to a Muslim father, he had a Muslim grandfather, he was raised
by a Muslim step father, taught as a boy in a Muslim school, tutored by a man who was a sexual pervert and socialist during his early boyhood, attended the church Wright pastored which had many Muslim members, has been praised by Quaddafi and Hamas – Muslim terrorists,
and in an absent-minded moment on tv slipped and said "My Muslim faith."

His friends are terrorists and leaders who hate our nation and want her destroyed from without and within. He has not proven his citizenship, and his biggest campaign issue centered around race. He has promised that his future plans are heavily racial in purpose.

Christian? Never!
Obama voted 4 times against letting a baby receive medical attention if that baby survived an abortion. Fannie and Freddie paid him more than everyone but Chris Dodd and 39 times more than McCain. I believe McCain received a token payment to cover their tracks, and the big three; Dodd, Obama and Kerry were paid to keep their mouths shut or to continue their refusal to vote with Bush
regulate them. Obama has NEVER at any time declared he loves America, but has called our troops terrorists and has downgraded our Constitution. He has lied so many times about so many things
that it is hard to believe he means any of the things he says. He has vacillated on numerous issues, and has never instituted any legislation in his one year that he actually showed up for work in Illinois. He has can speak eloquently about nothing and people look beyond his lack of knowledge and experience like they are in a hypnotic trance. He is a fraud, and unworthy of the respect of any thinking person.

S.S Tipton? Semester FC? ARWIN!?

I’ve read all these articles about Suite Life of Zack and Cody spin-offs. I’ve heard about ARWIN awhile before though and it said it was a pilot that was never picked up. So, I’m guessing it was real but isn’t happening anymore. And S.S Tipton and Semester FC have like the same plot line. I hope these "rumors" are true. But does anyone know the honest truth? lol! I’m dying to know!

Would you read this if it was published?

i blocked the paragraphs so you could read better. it’s actually only two pages
after you’re done, can you answer the questions below?

The girl gripped the stack of paper tightly as she walked at a carelessly fast pace. She was called down by the Head himself.

She knows the rumors, the facts. She knows that she was gone and on the move again. They’ve dedicated years and lives to stop her, and now they let her slip again. If only she was in charge of the project, maybe she would’ve. She warned them the flaws of the plan, yet they decided to take the risks.

Now? Who knows where she is. Maybe in London, Australia, Russia? Maybe she skipped for a vacation spots and went to Africa. Her hunch? Probably in America. There were an odd string of murders that started in South Dakota, went south, and ended with a missing child in Minnesota that was later found in Illinois just hours after she escaped. She has the research done. Now all she has to do is trap her.

The girl reached a large, metal door with a wheel similar to a ship’s steer attached to it. She spun it once to the left, then right, right two notches more, left, left, yank, and the door swung open enthusiastically, nearly knocking her down.

She stepped into the room. The room was in the shape of a circle cut into a fourth, and was brightly lit by the sunshine outside. The room had massive windows lined up, serving the purpose of a wall. Coffee colored curtains were hoisted up by fancy ropes.

Bookshelves lined up against the walls that faced the building and charts and diagrams mounted stately against their stands. They were so cluttered; it looked like it was arranged in a maze. The girl walked and occasionally nudged them to get to the center of the room, where a desk and chair laid out in front of her. A man occupied the chair.

The man had walnut eyes the color of glossy wood. His hair was dry and brittle and he had a light goatee. His face, usually alert, was now tired and gaunt. He raised his eyes wearily to peer at the girl.

“Why, Miss Dale, sit down.” He beckoned her to a chair in front of his desk. The girl sat down.

“So what exactly is your idea?” the Head asked,

Dale, the girl, nervously unclipped the stack of papers, and spread them out for the Head to see.

“See that?” she indicated a few pages of newspaper clipping from the stack. All of them had the words murder, homicide, and unknown scattered throughout the articles. She then drew out a map of the U.S. Large red dots were plastered on it.

“The police found first body here,” Dale pointed to the first red dot. “The next few have around the same symptoms; organs pulled out through the mouth, or no injuries known.” The Head stared at them observantly.

“The murders continue into Minnesota,” she pulls out two other article clippings. “They found the body in Illinois. She was only three.” The Head flipped the two articles about the missing Angela Wilsons around to read. There was a large picture in one of the articles. It featured a young toddler with wispy brown hair and a toothy grin.

“Did you find anything else?” The Head at last spoke.

“There was a blackout later in Illinois, in a town called Hillsville.” Dale drew out even more articles. “Please sir, I think it all fits. All the murders, they all go in a diagonal curve. I think she was moving towards Hillsville.”

The Head nodded, “That seems definite.”

“This is her, I know it is. All we have to do now is find a way to trap her and do it – “

The Head raised a hand and she immediately stopped.

“Miss Dale, I think this–“ he swept his hand over the map with the red dots, “is definitely her.”

“Thank you, sir. Now, if we can use my plan to – “

“But –“he stopped her again. “But I think you missed a step Miss Dale. Actually, two steps.”

Dale looked as though she had been clubbed over her head.

“Tell me Miss Dale, who are we supposed to after? Who are we suppose to chase?”

“She of course!”

“Yes, but she is inside somebody isn’t she? It is most likely a girl, and even more likely, an infant or a toddler. So which girl are we supposed keep an eye on?”

Dale swallowed. She tripped, she made a mistake. “I shall find the most likely person, sir.”

“Yes you will. Now, let me help you,” the Head said, “You know what the girl might look like, am I right?” (Dale nodded vigorously) “Usually their eyes are different, abnormal. We will need a lookout for every possible target. This is where you come in.”

“What?”

“You will be an agent. We will change your name, definitely. Perhaps not your first name, but definitely your surname. We will also be creating a fake history of you that you will need to memorize.”

Was this happening, Dale thought. She is being promoted!

“So all you have to do is find the most likely targets, I don’t care how many there is, and present them to me. As a treat, I’ll let you choose which target you want
<continued>
“So all you have to do is find the most likely targets, I don’t care how many there is, and present them to me. As a treat, I’ll let you choose which target you want to be stationed at.”

“Thank you ,sir” Dale breathed. “so, shall I go? Now?” she made a motion as if to gather the papers.

“Ah, yes. Imeadiately, Miss Dale. In the meantime, I should be getting started on my part too…” he stood up from his chair and strode to the door. But as his hand turned the door, he paused.

“Miss Dale?” he called.

“Yes?” Dale said from her stack of messily piled stack of paper.

“Did you take care of the police?” he asked quietly.

Dale smiled and nodded, “Yes.” She didn’t explain how.

1. Does it raise suspense?
2. is it confusing? (aka does it make your head hurt)
3. Does it need more details? (i purposely didn’t put a lot of physical detail about Dale)
4. Would this be a good intro to a book?

DALE JR #8 comment I read that was posted awhile ago mentioned the fact he NEVER cheats…Jimmie Johnson does.

well…if I can turn back the clock maybe a year to last season or maybe the season before… JR fans can say he does not cheat but…what about the race when he went on the radio and said "sorry guys I spun out on purpose to get the caution…did not want to loose a lap" Any JR fans remember that? Most likely not!
If you are gonna spin on purpose to get a caution…DO NOT get on the radio and say it….derr……what was he thinking? And do not say that never happened because it did..google it maybe you can find an article about it. So before anyone accusses anyone of cheating think about it before you speak……and ALL teams play with the rule book and grey areas JR’s team is no better.
I do not hate JR…just most of his fans that think he is some kind of GOD….he is not and never will be as good as his father was or as good as Jeff Gordon is right now. JR is not a bad driver….he’ll just be another MARK MARTIN…have a few wins here & there but NO CHAMPIONSHIPS!!!!!!!!

This is a question for the republicans who keep naming Palin as a 2012 candidate?

http://online.wsj.com/article/SB20001424052748704576204574529770560352200.html

Here’s another one of you trying to spin the facts in spite of his own admission that democrats, a majority of independents and moderate republicans do not see her favorably. 63% said they would not consider her candidacy, so I don’t think the other 37 % will win her the election. The writter here says approval numbers change all the time in politics and could be different in three years. I would agree IF she was in a public office. But she is not and therefore she will have no successes to claim between the time she resigned with low ratings and the time 2012 rolls along.

She quit her job as governor without providing any real reason. She only said that she’d be more effective out of the governors mansion than in. And let me tell you I cannot argue with that for a second. Nevertheless, she is seen as a quitter.

Here’s another problem, you were luke warm to John McCain, a halfway decent moderate but absolutly loved right wing nut job Palin. If it werent for Huckleberry (Pun intended) and Romney spliting the vote a moderate could have never won nomination in your party. That’s not gonna cut it in a country where most people are in the middle.

It’s also why Palin has a shot at the nomination. But why run someone who can’t win?

Who actor would be perfect to play Eddie Brock/Venom in his own movie?

Excerpt from the Wikipedia article of Eddie Brock:

"In July 2007, Avi Arad revealed a spin-off was in the works. In September 2008, Paul Wernick and Rhett Reese signed on to write. Stan Lee has been signed on to make a cameo in the film. Gary Ross has been called to direct the film. Variety has stated that Venom will become an anti-hero, and Marvel Entertainment will produce the film."

Who actor should Marvel Entertainment Studios choose to play the role of Eddie Brock/Venom?

I hope not Topper Grace, I didn’t really like how Grace portrayed him…

Is dairy and meet essential for a healthy diet?

"Dairy products contain calcium, vitamins and essential nutrients. Meat is also an essential part of a nutritious diet…"

http://www.ehow.com/way_5333348_highnutrition-diet.html

I suspect that this quote is misleading. It sounds a lot like food industry spin.

The Nurses’ study shows that greater consumption of dairy is associated with higher rates of osteoporosis. Leafy greens is a more digestible form of calcium.

The truth is, most of the world is lactose intolerant or otherwise unable to safely consume dairy. Some of our most esteemed nutritional researchers indicate that no animal products are required for a balanced vegan diet. (Neal Barnard, T. Colin Campbell, Caldwell Esselstyn, Jr., Dean Ornish, and many others) Also, people with cardiovascular disease should avoid the fat and cholesterol in meat. Complete proteins can be derived from vegetables, legumes, and whole grains. In my opinion, this article is misleading at best.

Was this article written by a well-meaning contract writer rather than a qualified domain expert independent of the food industry? Was the article written by someone in the food industry? Do you agree with this article?
Please don’t tell me you chose ‘yes’ because of the celebrity milk mustache commercials.
In Northern climates, people would have the choice of either starving or eat game in Winter. By necessity, they ate animals. Populations in equatorial climates were/are primarily vegetarians. Consequently, they have a far lower rate of heart disease, stroke, cancer, and diabetes.

Sure people can eat animal based foods, the question is whether a balanced diet requires animal based foods. The four researchers I cited agree with a resounding no.
Tuna and fish can be high in Omega-3 fatty acids, but so is flax seed meal.

Tuna and fish are often high in heavy metals and other dangerous contaminants. Animals up in the food chain tend to concentrate contaminants. From my research, there is no nutrient in fish that cannot be supplied through plant based diets (B12 and D3 should be supplemented by vegetarians).

anti reverse fishing gear?

hi folks I got little questions here ..

when I get a fish on the hook and she’s trying to run away, and she may accidentally break my fishing line if she is big enough .,say 10 pounds or more.
So does this Anti reverse thing prevent such sudden force change caused by the fish or what ?

Still I have read a coupla articles, now i am pretty much confused with the concept…

Now there is a spool there right .>it could be a rotating one, and it could be a fixed one to the reel /? am I right /??

I was kinda thinking .that this anti reverse thing might actually refer to the rotating part of the spool …

they said the spool rotates clockwise..or conter clockwise so this anti thing will prevent it from rolling the way around … I mean when you’re retrieving the line, they could help ya not to mess up with it//.. is it what they are talking about ??

Still here i got more.
I got spin casting reel , spinning reel .and baitcasting reel.

what the hell are differences ???//
Baitcasting reel was something that controlled by a thumb ??
Spining reel and spin casting reel are somthing with a spin that spins

Can i get any help on these stats questions!?

I need help with these questions please!

1)An inspector inspects large truckloads of potatoes to determine the proportion p in the shipment with major defects prior to using the potatoes to make potato chips. Unless there is clear evidence that this proportion, p, is less than 0.10, he will reject the shipment. He will test the hypotheses
H0: p = 0.10, Ha: p < 0.10. He selects an SRS of 100 potatoes from the over 2000 potatoes on the truck. Suppose that 6 of the potatoes sampled are found to have major defects. A 95% confidence interval for the true proportion of potatoes in the truck that have major defects is:
A. 0.034 to 0.086.
B. 0.009 to 0.111.
C. 0.051 to 0.103.
D. 0.026 to 0.128.

2) Is there a difference in the amount of airborne bacteria between carpeted and uncarpeted rooms? In an experiment, 5 rooms were carpeted and 5 were left uncarpeted. The rooms are similar in size and function. After a suitable period of time, the concentration of bacteria in the air was measured (in units of bacteria per cubic foot) in all of these rooms. The data and summaries are provided: Carpeted Rooms:
x = 184
s = 27.0
Uncarpeted Rooms:
x = 172
s = 17.9
The researcher wants to investigate whether carpet makes a difference (either increases or decreases) in the mean bacterial concentration in air. The numerical value of the two-sample t statistic for this test is:
A. 0.414
B. 0.828
C. 1.312
D. 2.116

3) Is the mean age at which American children can first read now under 4 years? If the population of all American children has mean age of μ years until they begin to read and standard deviation σ years, one would test which of the following null and alternative hypotheses to research this?
A. H0: μ = 4 and Ha: μ ≠ 4
B. H0: μ = 4 and Ha: μ > 4
C. H0: μ = 4 and Ha: μ < 4
D. H0: μ = 4 and Ha: μ = 4 ± , assuming our sample size is n

4) Suppose you decide to bet on red on each of 10 consecutive spins of the roulette wheel described in problem 7, above. Suppose you lose all 5 of the first wagers, which means that on the first 5 spins of the wheel, red has not come up once. Which of the following is true?

A.You should get more spins of red on the next 5 spins of the wheel, since we didn’t get any on the first 5 spins.
B.The wheel is not working properly. It favors outcomes that are not red. Hence, during the next five spins of the wheel, we’re likely to continue to see few red outcomes.
C.We’re due for a win, so the sixth spin of the wheel is very likely to come up red.
D.What happened on the first 5 spins tells us nothing about what will happen on the next 5 spins.

5) In a recent article it was reported that in a random sample of children in grades two through four, a significant negative relationship was found between the amount of homework assigned and student attitudes.

The attitude of the students is
A.an explanatory variable.
B.a response variable.
C.a confounding variable.
D.none of the answers are correct

Any help on these will be greatly appreciated! Thank you!
