It wouldn’t matter if we open up every square inch of the offshore area and land area to drilling.

The oil companies have leases and permits for 83 million acres of on and offshore area to drill on.

Including an area right next door to ANWR about the same size as ANWR. This particular land has been under lease since 75 and the test drilling was done in 77 proving that the oil was there, not a single barrel of oil has been produced on that land.

The real question is why do the oil companies refuse to use the land already leased to them that they have poven oil instead of drilling in other lands and shipping it back here.

The answer is that it is cheaper to do it elsewhere and ship it back.

You can argue that it is workers wages being higher or the equipment to protect our envionment that isn’t required elsewhere driving up or what ever other factors you want, but it all boils down to being cheaper to do it elsewhere.

    Try voting…

But, a better perspective is how can we force conservatives to actually embrace the concept of conservation and the use of alternatives.. Rapidly consuming the last dwindling oil reserves does nothing to provide us energy independence

er… thanks for the opinion link that basically said "Pelosi bad" and little more… with little facts even…

here I thought you would have some non-bias factual link to support your point…hahha…

I thought it was all in ANWAR according to cons… hahaha

wth whimsy you know why gas prices have been down lately? its cuz us republicans stepped in and said we needa start using our own oil. why should we conserve it? you know those offshore oil places have no security whatsoever. that means other counrties could’ve been coming in and drilling away just like that. why let other countries take OUR oil without paying? its our oil, where is it gonna go? alternative fuel sucks, i like my 91 petro very freaking much. of course i wouldn’t mind switching in the future, its just i want gas prices to be lower as we’re developing the technology for alt. fuels. america isn’t ready just yet, so we needa do this offshore drilling as we find new alt fuels.

Newsflash… Pelosi is not standing in the way of bills that have not even been proposed.

And Obama is a Senator… it has to pass the House to get to him before he can have an opinion that counts.

Try reading the legislation and not hot-air from Rush Limbaugh.

  6. CaesarLives says:

Unlike other oil producing countries, the USA permits oil companies to drill if they want, or not if they don’t want, and sell the oil on the international market. So calling it USA oil and implying that the oil would be sold to USA consumers is false. Conservatives would block any bill in Congress seeking to force oil companies to sell USA oil to Americans first.

  7. BROOOOOKLYN says:

Caesar said it all perfectly before me. The "USA oil" will be sold to the HIGHEST bidder on the international market. It will not remain in the US, nor will it effect the price overall.

write to your congressmen and Senator and email…
